This New Year's Eve gig for 3,500 people was Mike Tilka's last with the band until 1990.
The classic audience intro of The Party was recorded at this show (although it was attempted at several others). After Kim remarked that it would be on their next album, he and the audience then rehearsed it a few times before the final take was taped.

I remember them doing 'The Party' and telling us it would be recorded. The version they did that night had a Dylan-like verse of "everybody must get stoned!" It was quite different than what ended up on the album.

As a kid I was such a huge fan of Max, and remember fondly going to the 1977 New Year's Eve show at Seneca College, I was 16! It was the last show with Mike Tilka and I remember the band drinking champagne at midnight. Me and my buddies got there real early thinking there would be a lineup, but nobody was there so we watched the end of the soundcheck and eventually got to the front of the gymnasium, I don't think there were chairs. Before the concert started me and a buddy had to go to the can and our third friend was supposed to guard our spots, but when we came back a group of really drunk people took our spots! We were able to squeeze in anyway and it was an incredible show!!

I do remember quite a bit of interaction between Tilka and Kim in particular. He wrapped Kim's head in toilet paper, to which Kim replied "what the fuck are you doing?!"

I remember seeing Max Webster @ the Seneca College Field House in Toronto on New Years Eve '77. The boys were hooped, and rang in the New Year...3 minutes too soon, with huge buckets of confetti and big fans they threw it into, blowing it all into their fans! What a night that was!
