I remember seeing Max at London Gardens. Gary was still playing the Slingerlands and he had a cymbal stand clamped on both bass drum hoops. He hit one so hard that it broke off just under the cymbal and landed flat side down on the stage close to Kim. Nobody batted an eye but me.
