This is Max Webster's first time supporting Rainbow. The bands would share the same bill a few more times in 1978.
Paul Kersey recalls their set getting cut short, as they ended up playing only five songs. "But the reviews said we blew them off the stage," he rightfully insists.

I saw them for the first time in Montreal in 1976 in the Theatre St Denis. It was a smaller club, and they were opening for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. When we arrived we saw their stage setup and on one of the speakers they had a real head like on the first album cover. We had never heard of Max Webster and thought, hope they are quick so we can get to Blackmore. They hit the stage and there was Kim front and centre. To us most warmup bands are just cannon fodder as we want to see the headliner, but they blew us all away. Now granted Ritchie Blackmore went from playing stadiums with Deep Purple to now a small 2000-seat run down theatre in Montreal. He just stood at the back of the stage and out of the spotlight for most of the show. This was Max Webster's time to shine as an upcoming new band, and they met the task. It took only two songs, don’t remember what they were as memory is not as good as it used to be, and the group of 5 people I was with were hooked. For me they outplayed Blackmore. We came back home and we all bought the album. They won me over that day and I have been a fan ever since.

Seen them for the first time at St Denis Theatre Montreal (opening act for Rainbow). Ridiculous clothing of the band, but the music was so hot. We were immediately hooked. Also Kim with his strange orange transparent silk hat. We laughed so much. And Toronto Tontos song. They were walking like robots and/or strange people....fantastic. Also hot drumming by Paul Kersey (only rototoms and 2 wood bass).
